Not on the Chrome Web Store yet, so this is a manual install. It takes about a minute and the steps are below.

Installing it

Five steps, once. Nothing here needs the command line.

    Download and unzip it

    Keep the unzipped folder somewhere permanent. Chrome loads the extension from that folder every time it starts, so moving or deleting it uninstalls the extension.

    Open chrome://extensions

    Paste that into the address bar. Chrome will not let a web page take you there, so this one is manual.

    Turn on Developer mode

    The toggle is in the top-right corner of that page. It is what makes the next button appear.

    Click Load unpacked, pick the folder

    Select the unzipped folder itself, the one with manifest.json directly inside it. LandMyRole appears in your extensions list straight away.

    Sign in on landmyrole.com

    The panel reads your résumés from your account. Open the site in the same browser and sign in once, and the extension picks the session up on its own.

Two things to expect

  • Chrome will warn you about developer mode.A bubble saying “Disable developer mode extensions” appears on most launches. That is Chrome describing how the extension was installed, not something it found in it. You can dismiss it every time.
  • It will not update itself.A Web Store install updates in the background; this one does not. When there is a new version, download it here and use Chrome’s reload button on the extensions page.

Both go away once the Web Store listing is live. We are applying for it.

What it can and cannot see

It reads a posting only when you ask it to, and it never uploads a page you have not pointed it at. Your session lives in extension storage, which no website can read. It asks for access to a site the first time you use it there, and names the site it is asking about.
